about

"Whispering Galaxy," a four track EP released on Infinity Vine Records (IVR 05).

From Jan Willem via De Subjectivisten, Netherlands:

"...What is different and immediately catches the eye is the increase in vocals, which are often used as an ethereal instrument and cannot always be understood verbally. In addition, they sometimes evoke memories of Cocteau Twins and early Black Tape For A Blue Girl. Furthermore, the title is well chosen, because they create an enormous spatial sound in which a lot happens in a subtle way. From soft beats with shoegaze textures, which could have been a sequel to Slowdive's Pygmalion, and dark ambient to more grainy work with industrial and techno beats. In terms of vocals, they bring ethereal vocals, as mentioned, but also throat singing (sounds), robotic and more sweet-voiced vocals occur. They provide all of this with a cosmic and mysterious varnish, so that they deliver a completely idiosyncratic and often pleasantly alienating sound that really seems to have been brought from space. Other names for reference may be The Knife, Dyr Faser and the late period of Sleeping Dogs Wake, but in fact nothing quite fits. It's so special that I want to shout it out with enthusiasm rather than whisper it."

From Dominic Valvono via Monolith Cocktail, UK:

"...A reverberating apparatus of various synthesizers, machines, a turntable and post-punk flange-guitar manipulate and fashion a vaporous pink ether of various hymnal and more mysterious haunted heavenly vocalists to woo over on a cosmic cruise into the great expanses of space. Wispy, airy but with a lot of depth the album’s space journeys fluctuate between the dry-ice, breathy, cybertronic jacked-up Kosmische and subtle Techno visitations of ‘Shapeshifter’, and the more esoteric Banshee-dreamed ‘Selene’ – which reimagines a sort of synthesized neo-folk vampiric Velvet Underground casting shadows beneath a full moon. On the almost spiritual voiced ‘Haumea’, Violet Nox’s spacecraft hurtles through a trippy, warped sonic vortex towards a dwarf planet, located just beyond Neptune’s orbit. Named after the Hawaiian goddess of childbirth, and only discovered in 2004, Haumea inspires a suitable enough galaxy quest soundscape; one in which the Nox seem to turn off the engines and just drift towards in a suspended state of aria vocalized homage."
