"Future Fast," four track EP released on January 13th, 2020 on Sleep FUSE (UK)
"Due for release on Sleep Fuse today, no doubt in a low numbered press, new thing by Violet Nox titled ‘future fast’. A more muted and insular affair than previously, the reliance on atmosphere and mood elevated to prime focus, there’s a detachment here more so an isolationist edge permeating from these four ghost wave celestials. ‘Cosmic bits’ opens proceedings to a slow steady pulse wave as the attending parts gather to form a bigger picture, the density and momentum eking through the gears, it’s akin to the slow build intensity more commonly found on Kreidler cuts, that metronomic surge and minimalist electro curving something much suited to admirers of the Bureau B family (incidentally there will be Bureau B groove aplenty at some point, when that is, we hit some kind of flow and of course, trap the relevant pre seasonal emails). Once peeled from its skin, ‘moonshine’ reveals a distractive ghost rider cosmic to its palette, its trippily wasted out of focus detailing cooled by a slick and shadowy ghost lit shimmering hooked upon warping motifs. Elsewhere, ‘super fan’ is the pure haunt of nothingness and emptiness, its unravelling burn set in a chaotic confusion leaving ‘bell song’ to see matters to conclusion, though not before cocooning you in a vibrant life radiant oasis of choral corteges, off world native sounds and ethnic rhythmics."
